It is not a matter of much interest for the majority of the population of Kerala that R Balakrishna Pillai, former Minister, sentenced to one year imprisonment by the Supreme Court in a corruption scandal and sent to jail. However he created stage in Kottarakkara similar to one adopted by Madani in Anwarsseri before his surrender. That his leaning on knees in Mannam Samadhi means Mannam also promotes graft? Slogan shouting crowd gathered at residence of Pillai, if get chance, dissolve the Supreme Court itself. Pillai saying that he had committed no crime is just hollow words that the corrupts often say.
Pillai’s punishment and subsequent imprisonment sent clear warning to all corrupt politicians in the country. The Chief Minister of Kerala VS Achuthanandan deserves full credit for sending Pillai to the place suited for him.
