Karat posturing

By targeting righteous leaders like V.S. Achuthanandan, Prakash Karat has shown himself in a poor light. Actually, it is Karat and his coterie who are responsible for the Left’s electoral defeat and hence Karat himself should resign from the politburo first.
It is a pity that Achuthanandan, thrown out of the party for ‘manipulated indiscipline’, still obeys Karat’s diktat. Karat’s attempts to cobble together a Third Front with a possible aim to become prime minister were an indication of his greed for power. Although that experiment has failed miserably, Karat still says that there is a need to remodel the Front. Surely, Karat’s move is intended to hide his weakness as a leader. Before the election, Karat had asserted that bereft of Left support, the Congress would be in no position to form a government. His predictions have been proved wrong, but he still sticks to his post. The fact is that the CPI(M) is losing its influence in West Bengal and Kerala. Leaders of all factions have deviated from communist principles. When most have distanced themselves from the people, it is only leaders such as Achuthanandan who still sustain the party in these states. But Karat pretends to be unaware of this.

Karat should be sent out the party

Prakash Karat is the foulest player in the Marxist party. His futile attempt of accepting the post of Prime Minister under “inevitable circumstances” has failed and now he is targeting righteous leaders like V S Achuthanandan. Actually it is Karat and his coterie who are responsible for Left’s electoral beating and hence Karat should resign first from the Polit Buro.

It is a pity that Achuthanandan who was thrown outof the party PB for what is called “mainipulated indiscipline” still obeys Karat’s diktat. Karat’s attempts to cobble up a Third Front grouping with an aim to become the PM were an indication of his greed for power. His cornering of women leaders like Mayawati and Jayalalithaa is a laughing stock. Though the Third Front experiment has miserably failed still Karat says there is a need to remodel it. Surely Karat’s move is intended to hide his weakness to lead the party.

At Parliament election Karat said “the Left parties would not support Congress in forming the next government under any circumstances. Congress would undoubtedly not be in a position to form the next government and has now become all alone with allies deserting it”. All his revelations about election fallout were gone astray, nevertheless he sticks to his post by mere foul play.

The fact is that the CPM is losing its impetus in WB and Kerala by the disorder created by party cadres and its “bullet bearing” leaders. All official faction leaders have deviated from the communist principles. When the new liberal society leaders have distanced from the general public it is only Achuthanandan and the like minded ones give still breathe to the party in these states. But Karat pretends to be unaware of it.

Game in the Marxist party will continue.

Finally the Marxist party has conceded the corruption. Kerala’s Chief Minister and veteran Communist leader, V. S. Achuthanandan, was axed from CPI-M politburo and central committee by Pinrayi-Karat coterie. The ground is flimsy- party indiscipline. Nevertheless low profile leaders like Sivadasa Menon, Thomas Isaac, M M Lawrence, P Jyarajan, MV Jayarajan and others recognized for severe unruliness are still in the party. One who questioned corruption is outside the party where as corrupt is inside it. Karat-Brinda and other available PB members would find a tough time to clarify the matter among common people in the coming days. When a person accused by the Central Bureau of Investigation in the Rs.374 crore SNC Lavalin corruption case is still in party high stratum, the allegation that Karat and others have also shared a part of the corruption money could not be ruled out.

Karat and coterie did not recognize the sentiments of common man as most of them are campus recruits unable to understand peoples’ choice. The reason Karat was dead against sparing Achuthanandan would be evident if an investigation is made into the routes through Lavalin money has flown.

Evidently the Marxist party is trapped between the mass and the party corrupts. If Achuthanandan gives a positive nod to his men the party will sink. However he would not do that as the party is his blood and breathe. The Politburo has made a mistake, biggest in its entire history by grueling Acuthananadan. Chances of a split in the party can be ruled out as Achuthanandan will be the last one to ruin his own party. Nevertheless, I believe that he has enough weapons in his to target against Karat, Pinrayi, Kodiyeri, Sreemathi, Thomas Isaac and all the Jayarajans. The party corrupts have underestimated the probables of the veteran leader. The game will not end soon.
