It is time to take punitive action against SNDP Yogam Secretary Vellappally Natesan for invoking communal discord in the State. Latest walk and talk of Vellappally is culpable for leading the State to the brink of communal discord.
In his talk while inaugurating the function of a Volley Ball Club, at Cherthala for which Kerala Finance Minister Thomas Isaac has lavishly given Rs 20 lakh aiming at vote bank, Vellappally accused State Electricity Board for charging with Rs 2 lakh electricity bill in connection with Kanichkulangara temple festival. The reason he pointed out is that the Board has not that much charged for the Arthunkal Church festival, a function owned and organised by local Christians. Vellappally can demand for a concession for his temple festival but not by accusing the Christians. Vellappally often targets the Nair community, the Muslims and the Christians with a false motive and that should be viewed seriously.
In fact Vellappally is misusing his post as Yogam Secreatay to plant ill feeling in the minds vast section of the Ezhava Community against Nairs, Christians and the Muslims. And for that he should be slammed. The Government should ensure communal leaders not to make allegations against other communities for their personal gain. A special law for punishment for misusing community and religion is needed to control the vexed activities of deceptive persons like Vellappally.
If not vigilant, Vellappally will soon spin around as promoter of communal violence in the State
