CPM’s secular credentials.

The CPM’s secular credentials have ended in deep rift between that party and the CPI. The communal-extremist outfit PDP in Kerala is more a friend than CPI for the neo-liberalist group of CPM. With its measly communal outlook the CPM has elevated the outfit leader Madhani to the position of a State leader. Madhani, appearing in TV screens started preaching sermons of the tune that ‘then CPI will put the candidate, CPI alone will contest and CPI alone will vote’. Who is Madhani to dictate the CPI and to decide the fate of people of Ponnani?
The CPI should not allow the CPM tactics to take away the Ponnani seat from them. No communal outfit has any vote bank in any part of Kerala as they claim. All political parties should abstain from proposing candidates with a criminal record and do not seek the assistance of criminals involved in bomb-blast cases.

Outstanding performance

For Pinarayi Vijayan, the state secretary of the Kerala CPI(M), Somnath Chatterjee is the biggest betrayer of the working class. In his comment, Vijayan, who has been implicated in the SNC Lavalin graft case concerning a deal brokered when he was state power minister in 1998, extolled the leadership qualities of the Kerala chief minister, V.S. Achuthanandan. The state party secretary was responding to another comment on betrayers made by G. Sudhakaran, the minister for co-operation. All this mud-slinging is associated with problems in the Kerala unit. Leaders of the CPI(M) say that there is nobody bigger than the party. Who is this party? Does it consist of just those who attend the area committee offices of the CPI(M)?
